Far Hills

Our newest partnership, with Far Hill Country Day School (FHCDS), grew out of a desire to place interns in a setting where strong developmentally appropriate and differentiated instruction occurs on a regular basis across grade levels. This fall, nineteen sophomores, seeking dual certification in elementary and special education, will spend most of a day in the classroom with teachers and students, and an additional two and a half hours in a co-taught course on planning, instruction, and strategies to include all learners. By pairing a university faculty member and K-12 teacher, the interns are exposed to researched best practices and their applications in real world settings.

The 16-week internship, every Monday at FHCDS, offers Seton Hall sophomores the opportunity to observe and assist Primary School teachers in delivering innovative instruction. Interns will assist working with small groups and teaching lessons.

This collaborative partnership promotes learning for all. FHCDS will be assisting in the preparation of the next generations of teachers, while University faculty will assist in faculty development and inquiry directed at the improvement of practice, all with the goal of enhanced student achievement.
