He and his family moved across my street from San Antonio, Texas when I was 10 and we became quick friends. I was always over at his house hanging out with his family, his dogs, and most importantly&#8230; eating delicious Tex-Mex food. Both of his parents were incredible cooks, but the best cook in the family was most definitely his grandmother. Because they knew that I was very much into food culture, they would always give me tips about the food they would cook. Her best tip was telling me how to make sure <strong>guacamole<\/strong> stays green even when it has been sitting out for a while.\u00a0 She told me that in order to make sure your guacamole stays green, you should put the avocado pit into it. There are enzymes in the pit&#8217;s skin that allows the color of the guacamole to remain bright and green!<\/p>\n<p>The picture featured is Taylor and his dad on the FIRST day they moved to the neighborhood.. we&#8217;ve definitely both grown immensely since this picture was taken.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Growing up, my best friend&#8217;s name was Taylor.
