When searing a steak or anything else in hot oil, it can be quite a daunting task to make sure you can get a perfect sear as well as keep your skin and clothes safe from oil splatter. The proper technique for flipping over anything is to lift the ingredient, and lay it away from you. This will allow you to have more control and keep oil far from you.
