Lenovo ThinkPad Helix Selected for 2013 Mobile Computing Technology Program

Seton Hall University CIO Stephen Landry announced that the Class of 2017 will receive the Lenovo ThinkPad Helix for its Mobile Computing 2013 program. The Lenovo ThinkPad Helix will be the standard model for all incoming undergraduate students, freshmen and transfer and all juniors, except those in the Mac Program. This is a convertible Tablet/Ultrabook that runs Windows 8. It looks and operates like an ultrabook laptop computer with ten hour battery life, but the screen detaches and can operate as a tablet computer with five hour battery life.

Academic Year 2012 – 2013

This year, the University is proud to partner with Microsoft and Samsung to provide members of its community with a state-of-the-art Samsung Series 7 tablet, a PC with full desktop capabilities, running Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows 8. Our partnership with Microsoft as an early adopter has enabled the University to deliver the fast and fluid Windows 8 experience to our students before worldwide public availability.

In addition to Windows 8 PC, the University has partnered with Nokia, Microsoft and AT&T to provide all of our incoming students with a Nokia Lumia 900 Windows Phone. The smartphone will come with 300 voice minutes, unlimited domestic text messages and an unlimited data plan through the Fall Semester. The smartphone will also include a personalized app for our new students to connect with your peers and your support network on-campus.

Seton Hall University is committed to providing its teaching and learning community with the best possible experience and latest technology. With the help of our partners, we hope to ensure your success in your academic endeavors.
