The “Trip of the Week(ender)” for July 14 and 15 is a visit to the Maplewoodstock in our neighboring town of Maplewood. Started in 2004, Maplewoodstock has grown to legendary proportions, with two solid days of global, regional and local acts, with something to thrill any music lover. This year’s headliners include Third World on Saturday night, and Sunday’s show will feature Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band.

22 acts — and it’s all free. You don’t want to miss this event.

  • Bring a big appetite and pocket money. There are many great local food lenders, plus souvenirs and gifts.
  • Wear comfortable shoes, there is a lot of walking in the city!
  • Take friends, it’s safer and more fun with a few people.
  • Bring a blanket, maybe some chairs, sunscreen and a hat.

Maplewood is one stop away. Take the NJ Transit train at the South Orange train station to Maplewood and just follow your ears. Memorial Park is immediately adjacent to the station across Dunnell Rd., just walk down the hill into the park and the concert site is right there.

Enjoy the show!
