The Teaching, Learning and Technology Center at Seton Hall University has been exploring the educational potential of virtual worlds in the college classroom on a pilot basis for the last two years. Partnering with the New Media Consortium, instructional designers, faculty and administrators have worked together to define best practice, identify strategies for the integration of immersive environments into the learning experience, and find solutions to training and support challenges. Our current efforts have centered on the virtual world of Second Life in both the undergraduate and graduate classroom however, we are actively investigating the potential of other platforms as they emerge.

We invite you to view our ship’s log as we travel through the metaverse which is documented through our blog and portfolio of projects. Here you will find descriptions of our virtual world initiatives, along with videos, interviews, and photographs of student projects and activities. Welcome! Come aboard and set sail with us as we enter a sea of endless possibilities.
