To friends of the Nonprofit Sector Resource Institute, welcome to NSRI Blog. This is to be a site where anyone with an interest in any aspect of the nonprofit sector can post questions, or comment on the posts of others, or share wisdom of whatever sort.
I plan to make a new post at least weekly on 1) some aspect of the management and/or governance of nonprofit organizations, or 2) on trends and developments in the sector.
I hope many of you will provide comments on my posts, and will also pose questions and share insights of your own.

I live in Chennai. I want to have a college degree in arts but my father wants to send me to study medicine. How can I explain to him that money and respect is not everything. Or at least, that you can earn it in other ways.
A thought for living in Chennai re communicating with your father. The arts and artists enrich our cultures and societies in very significant ways, yet their impact has always been difficult to describe in economic terms. Might it help to try to get your father to recall some occasion in his life when he felt personally inspired and motivated by something of beauty that was non-economic in nature, a concert, a worship service, a painting, kind word in a moment of need?
