María Esther Hammack, Ph.D. will visit Seton Hall University on Thursday, March 23, 2023. Dr. Hammack is the Barra Postdoctoral Fellow at the McNeil Center for Early American Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Her studies surround the recovery of black liberation histories.

Dr. Hammack will give a lecture titled, “Southern Routes to Freedom: Black Liberation in Mexican Destinations,” at 4:00 p.m. in the Walsh Library’s Beck Rooms. This lecture will focus on narratives of Black Liberation in North America by highlighting stories of underground railroads leading South to Mexico.
