Noted journalist Lucia Mouat contributes her collection of books on the UN Secretary-General to Seton Hall University

UN expert, noted journalist and author Lucia Mouat contributes her collection of books on the UN Secretary-General to Seton Hall.

Lucia Mouat acquired and used over ninety books in writing her seminal work “The United Nations’ Top Job: A Close Look at the Work of Eight Secretaries General” published in 2014.  They are being inventoried and maintained by Seton Hall University’s Walsh Library.

Ms. Mouat covered the United Nations in her career as a longtime correspondent and editorial writer for the Christian Science Monitor.  A member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Academic Council on the United Nations System, she holds a BA in international relations from the University of Wisconsin and an MA from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in Massachusetts.

Ms. Mouat participated in a School of Diplomacy event “Selecting the Secretary-General: Process, Politics and Potential” taking place on the eve of the UN’s selection of its ninth Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, at the Association of the Bar of New York City (15 August 2016).  Other panelists included Mogens Lykketoft, President of the UN General Assembly, and Edward Luck, Professor of Professional Practice in International and Public Affairs at Columbia University and the event was moderated by Hugh Dugan, Sharkey Distinguished Visiting Scholar, School of Diplomacy.

Thanks is due to Ms. Mouat for her interest in educating the next generation of United Nations scholars and leaders and for her thoughtful generosity.
