“The 12th Global Forum on Human Settlements” in observance of World Cities Day 2017. The theme is “Effectively Planning and Managing Urban Spatial Development to Implement 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and New Urban Agenda”

The event is organized by the Permanent Mission of the Gambia to the UN, the Permanent Observer Mission of the African Union to the UN (AU), the Global Forum on Human Settlements (GFHS), the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment), the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), the World Urban Campaign (WUC), the World Association of Non-governmental Organizations (WANGO), the Better City Institute (BCI) , etc.

 

Job Opportunity

UNLEASH is a global non-profit initiative aiming to address the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by bringing young global talents together to innovate and collaborate on new solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. Each year leading up to 2030, 1000 selected talents from academia, business, and civil society will come together for an immersive 10 days of co-creation and problem-solving, and develop solutions to the SDGs. The first event took place over 9-days in Denmark in August 2017. UNLEASH is supported by a global consortium of actors, including UNDP, Microsoft, Deloitte, Dalberg, DI, +170 knowledge and talent partners, and +35 company sponsors and donors.

We are looking for an ambitious, entrepreneurial and outgoing Community Manager to strengthen and grow the global community of 1000 UNLEASH talents/alumni, and support their efforts in bringing new SDG ideas to life by connecting them to the relevant people and organizations.

 

Attention all UN DPI NGO Youth Representatives

The DPI NGO Executive Committee is seeking applications for two Youth Representatives to serve as ex officio members of the Executive Committee for a one year term, October 2017 – June 2018. Those appointed to these newly created positions will serve as the youth voices on the Executive Committee, as members of the Executive Committee Youth Subcommittee, and as key communicators of Executive Committee activities to Youth Representatives around the world. Those appointed need not live in the New York metro area, but must be able to call or Skype/Zoom in for each monthly meeting. Meetings are usually held one Thursday per month, from 2-4 p.m. EST.

Those interested to apply should send a cover letter, resume and a letter of recommendation from the NGO Director/President to Dr. Bill Hunter, wdh3@lehigh.edu by October 1, 2017.
