Alumni Spotlight: Daniela Maquera Sardón

Daniela Maquera Sardon recently sat down with the Diplomatic Envoy to recall her experiences at Seton Hall University. Daniela migrated to New Jersey at age fifteen from Peru and graduated from Seton Hall University in 2021 as the university valedictorian with a Diplomacy and Economics major and an Asian Studies minor. She proceeded to do a remote exchange student at Stockholm University in Development Economics; she is now working with Mercy Corps as an intern while studying at Fudan University for her Master of Science in World and Chinese Economy on a Chinese Government Scholarship.

UNA-SHU Holds Prestigious Panel, Discusses UN’s 75th Year Anniversary, Proposes Solutions for The Future

On September 30, the United Nations Association at Seton Hall University (UNA-SHU) held a panel discussion to celebrate and discuss the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Charter. The panel consisted of His Royal Highness Prince Adnan El-Hashemite, Dr. Catherine Tinker, Rev. Robert Chase, and Dr. Mary Norton. The panelists presented different perspectives, engaged in a discussion, and answered questions about how the United Nations has impacted the international political stage over the past 75 years and how the world can move forward on its mission.

Interview with Alumnus and Fulbright Scholar Santiago Losada

Former Slavic Club President, founding Brother of Phi Delta Theta, Diplomatic Envoy staff writer, and Fulbright Scholar are all words that can be used to describe Seton Hall University Alumnus, Santiago Losada. Those who had the pleasure to cross paths with Santiago were mesmerized by his passion for learning about languages and culture. After graduating from Seton Hall in the Spring of 2019, Santiago accepted a position as a Fulbright Scholar and traveled to Moldova during the 2019-2020 academic year.

Interview with Alumnus Felipe Bueno

Seton Hall University alumnus Felipe Bueno, primarily known to members of the SHU community as the former Editor-in-Chief of The Diplomatic Envoy, is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Policy at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government this fall. After a prestigious lineup of internships and jobs, including as a research intern at the Modern War Institute at West Point, an editorial fellow at Business Insider, and a press associate for Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), he has set his eyes on a career in American diplomacy.
