FACULTY TECHNOLOGY SEMESTER KICKSTART
The Department of Information Technology welcomes you back to campus! To help kickstart your year, we have gathered a list of important information and updates we think you will find helpful.
The Technology webpage, http://www.shu.edu/technology/index.cfm , provides a wealth of “how to” articles, as well as answers to many frequently asked questions.
Additionally, the Technology Service Desk is available 24/7. They are your point of contact for any technology related questions or problems.

PC Support Services – Corrigan Hall – Lower Level, Room 29
Walk in hours: Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
The last appointment will be taken at 5:30 p.m.
Media Services – Classroom and event media support is available Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. – 11 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Training requests or other assistance may be made by calling ext. 9554 from on-campus, (973) 761-9554 from off-campus, or by emailing email@example.com.
Security – Keep your passwords secret, never provide your password over email or based on an email request, create strong passwords and change your password every 90 days. If you suspect phishing, identity theft, or hacking, please do not open the file and alert the Service Desk immediately.
Faculty printing – In addition to utilizing your department or local printer, you may also use any of the public printers on campus. To view public print locations, please click here.

Be in the Know…On the Go! Download the University’s mobile app, SHU mobile, to access the faculty and employee directories, Pirate News, the Library catalog and more. Blackboard Instructor is Blackboard’s brand new mobile application that gives instructors a quick and easy way to manage courses, interact with students, and view content. Take Advantage of Professional Development Opportunities
Tech Bytes is a series of hands-on session, focusing on increasing your productivity. A list of workshops being offered this Fall can be found at http://events.shu.edu.
An Online Teaching Certificate is offered by taking a series of 5 one hour workshops over the course of 3 weeks in November. The workshops will cover how to be a competent online instructor, how to teach to an inclusive classroom, engagement strategies, blackboard, course design and why quality matters. NitroPro – Nitro Pro is a pdf creation and editing tool that is available to all members of the SHU community. With Nitro Pro, you can easily convert many file formats (including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) into a PDF document. One Drive – Access your files anywhere, at any time, from any device! Each member of the University community is permitted to use 1 terabyte of storage for their personal files.
