6 Reasons for Integrating 3D Printing Into Your Classroom Courtney Starrett

Courtney Starrett, Assistant Professor in the School of Communication and Arts, shares 6 reasons for integrating 3D printing into the curriculum.
Even though Prof. Starrett’s expertise in art, design and interactive media provides a natural fit for her courses, the benefits of 3D printing that she shares can be applied to any discipline. Specifically she mentions:

  1. Ability to create tangible models and interactive objects
  2. Working with the “technology of our time”
  3. Interdisciplinary nature of 3D design
  4. Spark and ignite the creativity of your students
  5. Increase spatial intelligence
  6. Promote tinkering and exploration

Be sure to watch the video to see 3D design work in action (and perhaps become inspired to try it out)

Professor Starrett can be reached at Courtney.Starrett@shu.edu for more information or attend a 3D design workshop at Space154, part of the TLT Center. Register for a 3D design workshop or Makerspace Open lab here

Blackboard Tips

SafeAssign Originality Reports

SafeAssign originality reports are available on the Grade Assignment page, accessed either via the Grade Center or Needs Grading page.
For an assignment that has SafeAssign enabled, a yellow apostrophe will be displayed in the full grade center indicating that a student has submitted their paper. From the contextual pull-down menu, selecting the Attempt option will display the SafeAssign Originality Report. For additional information please watch the following video from Blackboard, and the associated Blackboard Help page.
