Student Technology Semester Kickstart

The Department of Information Technology welcomes you back to campus!  To help you kickstart your year, important information listed below will ease you back into the semester.

Technology Support: The first point of contact for any technology related question or problem is the Technology Service Desk which is available 24/7.

Extended Hours for PC Support Services: Saturday, August 29 – Friday, September 11
Technical Services Area – Corrigan Hall, Lower Level, Room 29
Saturday, August 29 & Sunday, August 30 12 noon – 5 p.m.
Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Friday 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Stay Informed – Find out about the latest in technology news and services:

  • Technology Blog – Find out what innovations and ideas are being shared.  Topics covered include Technology Workshops and Events, News and Announcements, as well as software launches and upgrades.
  • TechBytes – Series is comprised of hands-on sessions, focusing on increasing your productivity.
  • System Status (http://systemstatus.shu.edu/) – If something is not working as expected or if a system needs to be taken off line a system alert will be posted.
  • PirateAlert – The University’s primary notification system is PirateAlert. Notifications can be delivered via cellular phone calls, text messages, and e-mail. PirateAlert can be accessed from the OKTA login page.

Take Blackboard Mobile: Download the Blackboard Mobile App to allow for easy access to much of your Blackboard Learn content from anywhere.

Printing on Campus: Public print stations are available at various locations on campus.

Connecting your device to the Network: Instructions for connecting a personal device to the campus wireless.

In the Residence Halls: A dedicated wireless network for static devices (game systems, DVR’s, streaming video player, etc.) is accessible in the residence halls. See your RA or residence hall front desk for the access information and password.
