SkyDrive Pro – Windows 8

The SkyDrive Pro service (enterprise users) is not the same as the SkyDrive service that Microsoft offers to individuals. SkyDrive Pro is built using Microsoft SharePoint technology, you may see references to SharePoint while using SkyDrive Pro.

SkyDrive Pro – Students – Windows 8 Desktop (pdf)

The SkyDrive Pro Client for Windows (pre-installed with Office 2013), available for download from the Microsoft website, will allow users to have direct access to documents stored on their SkyDrive Pro account from the desktop environment.

  1. The Windows SkyDrive Pro Client for Windows is available as a free download from the Microsoft Download Center.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=39050  Select the Download button to proceed to the next step.
    note – the SkyDrive Pro Sync Client is pre-installed with Office 2013
  2. Select the SkyDrivePro_x86_en-us.exe checkbox, then select the Next button
  3. Once downloaded, locate the SkyDrivePro_x86_en-us.exe installation file in your Downloads folder, double click on the file to install the SkyDrive Pro Sync Client.
    The SkyDrive Pro 2013 application has the two small blue clouds icon.
  4. Open a web browser and sign into your first.last@student.shu.edu email account, then select the SkyDrive tab.
  5. Select the Sync button at the upper right corner of the page, located just below your name.
    • If you are not using a Seton Hall University issued computer, a Sign in prompt will appear.
      Enter your username@shu.edu and then select the Next button
    • Enter your PirateNet Password, then select the Sign in button
  6. The SkyDrive Pro Sync Client will start to sync your files.
  7. Select the Show my files… button to complete the SkyDrive Pro Sync Client setup.
  8. A SkyDrive Pro folder will be added to your “Favorites” area in the Windows File Explorer.

  1. The Windows 8 SkyDrive Pro app is available as a free download from the Microsoft Store: http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-us/app/skydrive-pro/d78bf57e-27fe-403e-b49b-701dedfdbf9e
  2. Once installed, launch the Windows 8 Modern UI SkyDrive Pro app
  3. The first time that you launch the SkyDrive Pro app, select the Sign In button
  4. Enter your Seton Hall University shortname@shu.edu and PirateNet password, then select OK
  5. Your SkyDrive Pro files will be displayed. To upload files, Right-click or swipe up from the bottom edge to reveal the app bar and select the Upload button. To update your password, swipe in from the right edge to display the Charms bar, select Settings, and then Select Options.

  4. Open the Internet Explorer web browser and sign into your Office 365 page (http://portal.microsoftonline.com), then select the SkyDrive tab.
    • Go to the http://portal.microsoftonline.com web page
    • In the username field, enter your shortname@shu.edu
    • When you click outside of the username field, you will be redirected to the Seton Hall University on premise sign-in page
    • Enter your PirateNet credentials, then select the Sign In button
    • Select the SkyDrive link in the navigation bar (this is actually a link to SkyDrive Pro)
  5. Select the Sync button at the upper right corner of the page, located just below your name.
    • If you are not using a Seton Hall University issued computer, a Sign in prompt will appear.
      Enter your username@shu.edu and then select the Next button
    • Enter your PirateNet Password, then select the Sign in button
  6. The SkyDrive Pro Sync Client will start to sync your files.
  7. Select the Show my files… button to complete the SkyDrive Pro Sync Client setup.
  8. A SkyDrive Pro folder will be added to your “Favorites” area in the Windows File Explorer.
