DHCP servers upgraded last night

Last night the University IT Services network team upgraded the DHCP servers, providing redundant DHCP servers with automatic failover.

The DHCP servers are a crucial component of the campus network. They provide a unique Internet address (known as an IP address) to every computer whenever you log in to the campus network. This upgrade is one further step toward University IT Services' goal of providing redundant servers for key IT services, ensuring that service will not be interrupted in the event one server is down.

Online storage quotas increased!

University IT Services today increased the amount of users' storage on the Blackboard Content System. Students now have 1 gigabyte of online storage, while faculty, staff, and administrators have 2 gigabytes of online storage.

Banner HR/Payroll is live!

The Banner HR/Payroll team, led by Dale McLeod, HR Information Systems Manager, has successfully implemented the Banner HR/Payroll module. Banner HR/Payroll Self Service for Employees, providing Web-based access for employees to change their address, view their pay stubs, and other basic functions, went live on December 21, and the first payroll in the new system was successfully run this week.

Information Commons opens in Walsh Library

Today the Information Commons on the main floor of Walsh Library opened for business. This new facility is a collaborative effort between the University Library and IT. The Information Commons provides sixty new state-of-the-art computers for research, digital media production, group study, and general computer use, as well as three new high volume printers.
