The twins also won the <strong>$500<\/strong> Audience Choice Award.<\/p>\n<p>Stillman Junior, <strong>Cameron Lloyd<\/strong>, took home <strong>$3,000<\/strong> for <strong>APPRENTICESHIPMENT<\/strong>, a business concept to help meet the need for apprentices in the manufacturing industry.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Pirates Pitch 2022<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Students were awarded varying amounts of venture capital seed funding by the investor judges to reflect the entrepreneurial fund-raising process.<\/p>\n<p>Graduate student <strong>Jonathan Soyka<\/strong> took home <strong>$10,000<\/strong> for his business <strong>Air Garden Inc.<\/strong>, a year-old startup utilizing aeroponics to grow vegetables and greens that are less costly than conventional produce.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jae Morris<\/strong>, a senior studying biology, secured <strong>$5,000<\/strong> for <strong>Back2Roots<\/strong>, a hair care company that she recently launched to promote hair growth and length retention. Morris also won the <strong>$500<\/strong> Audience Choice Award.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Pirates Pitch 2021<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students were awarded varying amounts of venture capital seed funding by the investor judges to reflect the entrepreneurial fund-raising process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nicholas Marinelli, <\/strong>a member of the Gerald P. Buccino \u201963 Center for Leadership Development Program, received <strong>$7,000<\/strong> and for the <strong>Extra Time Training app<\/strong>. He also received an additional <strong>$500<\/strong> for winning the Audience Choice Award.<\/p>\n<p><strong>David Farrelly,\u00a0<\/strong>a senior in the Stillman School of Business, won <strong>$5,000<\/strong> in seed funding for his business venture, <strong>Action Hearth.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Originally from Mexico, <strong>Christian Patlan<\/strong>, cofounder of the <strong>Kevin Alexander Company<\/strong>,\u00a0 was awarded<strong> $3,000<\/strong> for his startup idea for male cosmetics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Annabella Robb<\/strong>,\u00a0 a junior majoring in graphic design and minoring in art history, won <strong>$1,000<\/strong> for her custom press-on nail business, <strong>Annabellacures<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Pirates Pitch 2020<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students were awarded varying amounts of venture capital seed funding by the investor judges to reflect the entrepreneurial fund-raising process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Noah Thompson, <\/strong>a Senior in the Stillman School, received\u00a0<strong>$6,500\u00a0<\/strong>for\u00a0<strong>Agape<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Buccino Leadership Institute sophomores <strong>Rachel Badway<\/strong>, Stillman School (finance), and <strong>Robin Schilke<\/strong>, College of Arts and Sciences, (art and design) received\u00a0<strong>$4,500<\/strong>\u00a0for\u00a0<strong>Lead Ahead<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Stillman Sophomore <strong>Luke Tyler<\/strong> and\u00a0Junior <strong>Marian Bsharat <\/strong>received\u00a0<strong>$3,000<\/strong>\u00a0for\u00a0<strong>Edith<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Buccino Leadership Institute sophomores <strong>Faith Akinlade<\/strong> (civil engineering and physics) and <strong>Belen Gamarra<\/strong> (psychology and business minor) received $1,250 for <strong>KINetics<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Stillman seniors <strong>Anthony Conrad<\/strong> (management), <strong>Jevon Mitchell<\/strong> (finance), \u00a0<strong>Marcellis Counts<\/strong> (social and behavior sciences) and junior<strong>\u00a0Quintar Mathis<\/strong> (liberal studies with communication minor) received $750 for <strong>Don\u2019t Stop Skate.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Pirates Pitch 2019<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students were awarded varying amounts of venture capital seed funding by the investor judges to reflect the entrepreneurial fund-raising process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alissa Lopez<\/strong>, MBA student, received <strong>$9,000 <\/strong>for <strong>Sincere Sitter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>College of Nursing freshmen <strong>Allison Lamoureux<\/strong>, <strong>Katie Mazzarelli<\/strong> and <strong>Annemarie Ryan<\/strong> recived <strong>$3,500<\/strong> for <strong>Care Call<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Stillman School of Business Seniors <strong>Peyton Elder<\/strong> and<strong> Olivia Finane<\/strong> were awarded <strong>$2,000<\/strong> for <strong>Flock<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Stillman Juniors <strong>Steven Catadul <\/strong>and <strong>Elizabeth Win\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Senior <strong>Nathanael Boatswain<\/strong> received <strong>$1,500<\/strong> for <strong>Sprouts Analytics<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Pirates Pitch 2018<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First Place:<\/strong> <strong>Madison Schott<\/strong> (senior, Mathematical Finance\/Marketing) won the $7,000 first-place award for <strong>Trenditure<\/strong>, an app that makes book recommendations based on current events and trending news.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second Place &amp; Audience Choice Award:<\/strong> Seniors <strong>Nasima Nagim <\/strong>(Accounting\/Finance) and <strong>Walla Elshekh<\/strong> (Political Science) won both the $4,500 second-place award and the $500 Audience Choice Award for <strong>Tahira<\/strong>, a start-up that provides business attire for women who dress modestly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Third Place:<\/strong> Third-place honors and a prize of $3,000 went to senior <strong>Patrick Burd <\/strong>(Marketing\/Management), who pitched <strong>Classic Soccer Cleats<\/strong>, an online vendor of classic-style soccer cleats.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Pirates Pitch 2017<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First Place:<\/strong> David Webster\u2014Divvi, an idea for a cross-platform social messaging app to enhance coordination of groups and teams.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second Place:<\/strong> Anthony Laverde\u2014RePhone LLC, a cell phone screen repair startup.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Audience Choice Award: <\/strong>TJ Merighi and Ian Campbell \u2014CampusGo, a bike rental service for expansive college campuses.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Pirates Pitch 2016<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First Place &amp; Audience Choice Award: \u00a0<\/strong>Christian Zeron \u2014 Theo &amp; Harris, an online seller of men\u2019s vintage watches.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second Place:<\/strong>\u00a0Shaaliyah Lyons \u00a0\u2014 Together We Conquer, a summer basketball camp for inner-city high school students that also focuses on developing academic skills.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Pirates Pitch 2015<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First Place:<\/strong> Ryan Skolnick for his business idea Aveho, a video game format for students in K-12 to learn Chinese and other foreign languages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second Place:<\/strong> The team of Mike Gavela, Brian Wreckler and Johnil Quezada for their business idea Cthroo, a discovery engine based on the ethical collection of personal data.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Audience Choice Award:<\/strong> The team of Aziz Syed and Brent Ciccarino for their business idea Service Station, a mobile and website application to help consumers find reliable contractors for home remodeling projects.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Pirates Pitch 2014<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First Place (Tie):<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Mary Beliveau<\/strong> and <strong>David Kelly<\/strong>, seniors in the School of Diplomacy and International Relations, were recognized for their plan for Mazava Solar, a solar-powered mobile phone charger specifically designed for use in developing countries.\u00a0 Stillman freshman <strong>Qingyu (Vito) Lu<\/strong> was selected for his plan to open a Video Game Console Caf\u00e9 in his hometown in Nanjing, China.\u00a0 Both teams will receive a monetary award of $4,750 and business services to assist in launching their companies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Audience Choice Award: <\/strong>Mazava Solar (described above) and HorseDr.com, a web-based resource for equestrians pitched by Stillman sophomore <strong>Selene Presseller<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Pirates Pitch 2013<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First Place:\u00a0<\/strong>Carl Banks Jr.,\u00a0a senior studying graphic design in the College of Arts &amp; Sciences, won the first place prize for Audiotecha, an online music data search engine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second Place:<\/strong> Taseen Peterson,\u00a0a junior in the Stillman School of Business, won the second prize for TapFactory, LLC, an actual business he started with his brother and another associate, that creates and sells apps through the App Store, including StickyNotes, a reminder app that has over 4 million downloads.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Pirates Pitch 2012<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First Place:\u00a0<\/strong>Megan Kelly &amp; Ana Martinez, seniors studying public relations and journalism in the College of Arts &amp; Sciences, won the first place award for PR Express, a web-based business that seeks to make public relations and social media services more accessible to small businesses. The third member of the PR Express team is Adriana Gini, a student at Union County College.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second Place:<\/strong>\u00a0 Margaret Reilly, a senior in the Stillman School of Business who entered the contest solo, won the \u00a0second place award for Complementary Connections, an innovative marketing agency that fosters partnerships among products to raise brand recognition with consumers.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Pirates Pitch 2011<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First Place:\u00a0<\/strong>Luciana Contuzzi, a freshman in the Stillman School of Business who entered the contest solo, won the $3,500 first place award for The See-Stick, an inexpensive device that would allow hospitals to more efficiently evaluate and treat patient wounds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second Place:<\/strong> Eric Casperson\u00a0&amp;\u00a0Andrew Gilberti, seniors in the Stillman School, won the $1,500 second place award for X-Act Sports, a smart phone application that would allow users to more easily track favorite sports teams.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Third Place:\u00a0<\/strong>$100 \u201cHonorable Mention\u201d award went to the team of Allen Ratz, a senior in the Stillman School, and Caitlin Papa, a senior in the College of Education and Human Services, for A.C.E.
