{"id":658,"date":"2019-11-11T16:29:30","date_gmt":"2019-11-11T21:29:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/njdhc\/?p=658"},"modified":"2021-02-10T08:34:30","modified_gmt":"2021-02-10T13:34:30","slug":"corey-d-clawson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/njdhc\/2019\/11\/11\/corey-d-clawson\/","title":{"rendered":"Corey D Clawson"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Corey is an administrative professional who enjoys supporting the research, teaching, and service missions of higher education. \u00a0He has lived several lives in higher education: helping undergraduates connect with research opportunities, teaching world literature courses on the short story and exile, planning events, and a range of research projects on a range of topics\u2014 digitally mapping queer networks of influence; fugitive polygamist narratives; and the work of Elizabeth Bishop, Gabriela Mistral, and August Wilson.\u00a0 For him, the sweet spot for his research interests lays at the intersection of queer studies, comparative literary history, and digital public humanities.\u00a0 He also dabbles in (board) game studies and disability studies.<\/p>\n<p>His primary project, <em>Archivepelago\u00a0<\/em>(a portmanteau of \u201carchive\u201d and \u201carchipelago\u201d), models the transmission and translation of notions of sexuality and gender by mapping networks of 19th and 20th century queer writers and artists.\u00a0 An initial iteration can be found at <a href=\"https:\/\/archivepelago.org\/\">https:\/\/archivepelago.org\/<\/a>. Utilizing Neo4j, a graph database platform, the project draws upon finding aids and biographic data, charting connections between these figures ranging from their correspondence to the works dedicated to and translated by one another.
