Email Tips and Tricks for the Nokia Mobile Devices

Here are some tips and tricks for setting up email on the Nokia E-71 and N-97 mobile devices.

  1. When setting up your first.last@student.shu.edu email, the password required is the one that was created when activating your Live@edu account. This may not be the same as your http://piratenet.shu.edu password.

Click Here for a tutorial on how to reset your Live@edu password.

  2. The email application on the Nokia devices may need to have the Access Point set from the default to either Shu Campus, Shu wifi, or Internet.

To set the Access Point for your first.last@student.shu.edu email:

    • E-71: select Menu, Mfe, Mail for Exc…, Options, Edit Profile, Connection, then Access Point
    • N-97: select Menu, Applications, Mfe, Mail for Exc…, Options, Edit Profile, Connection, then Access Point

To set the Access Point for your Gmail email:

    • E-71: select Menu, Communic., Messaging, Gmail, Options, E-mail settings, Connection settings, Incoming (and outgoing) e-mail, Access Point in use
    • N-97: select Menu, Messaging, Gmail, Options, E-mail settings, Connection settings Incoming (and outgoing) e-mail, Access Point in use

PC Suite Download Information

Nokia-PC-Suite_1.pngAs a participant in the SHUmobile project, you have likely wanted to sync information with your PC, or will want to do this in the short term.  While both the E71 and the N95 come with software on the cd enclosed in the box, this software has since been updated.

You can download the newest version of PC Suite here.  This will work with both devices, and you can get started.

Remember:  if you go to choose “Update Phone Software” and it tells you there is an update, hold off.  Contact us, and we will work with you on that, as this is a firmware upgrade to the device’s operating system, and it will wipe the device’s data during the upgrade.  We will help you run a back up and restore and even do the firmware upgrade for you.

E71 Connectivity Issues

exclamation.jpg

We have been informed of a number of issues surrounding the E71 and lost network connections and access points.  We are happy to fix these for you if you can come to the Telecom Office in Corrigan room 71A.

We are also working with technicians at Nokia to determine if there is a bug in the device, or if there is a configuration error that can be easily fixed.

You can also let us know about issues by commenting here on this blog, or emailing SHUmobile (at) shu.edu.

Please have patience, and we will get this fixed as soon as possible.

Thanks!
