I don’t know about you but I was always amazed at how people how edit audio and video clips. It seemed like a foreign language to me.

The program they used (Adobe Audition) seemed daunting. Luckily, I have a good friend of mine named Justin, who I co-host and co-produce a Seton Hall University based podcast where we interview Student-Athletes who are great representatives of the University from their respective teams and get to learn their stories more as a whole.

The interviewing and talking skills came naturally, but the editing skills did not. Justin knew how to do it all and was kind enough to teach me and, not going to lie, once you get the hang of editing on Adobe Audition it is really straight forward and pretty fun too.
I can edit out any filler words such as “ums” and “like”, any long pauses in the interview or a section we want to delete for time purposes. I can raise and lower the audio sound if our guest is too close or too far away from the mic too.
Adobe Audition is a great program to use for editing a podcast and only takes a little while, and some trial and error to get the hang of it.
With any of my students – I could create a podcast assignment where the students have to record themselves describing and summarizing, for example, a book they read over the summer.
Hope this helps!
