Well that didn’t take long. Mr. Hall predicted a shake-up and a shake-up he got! Two #1 seeds went down, there was a near upset and several teams proved they were for real. If this is any precursor for what the rest of the week will be like, Mr. Hall can’t even begin to express his level of excitement. Big things appear to be on the horizon, but only the teams on the field can bring those dreams to fruition.

What a way to start off the day! McCoy Pond (#1 CFL) squared off with Ground & Pound (#2 CFL) in a battle of the top two ranked squads in the CFL. McCoy Pond had been cruising by opponents with relative ease as they brought a 3-0 record into the game. Ground & Pound has been just as dominant, but had to cancel a game so they were saddled with a loss. This game would answer all the questions and prove who the top dog really is. Ground & Pound came out like a bull in a china shop, scoring three straight TD’s on Sadowski throws. McCoy Pond tried to answer back with a strike from Deliberato, but Sadowski said anything you can do I can do better, and proceeded to toss another score for a halftime lead of 25-12. The second half was essentially a draw, as neither team could gain a true advantage. However, thanks to Ground & Pound’s dominant first half, they emerged victorious. McCoy Pond put up a valiant effort, but walked away in defeat for the first time this season.

*69, who was dropped from the rankings despite not losing, was out to prove they belonged as they took on a Multiple Score team who had yet to actually play a game. Two things were evident after this game was all said and done. Mr. Hall was right in dropping *69 and Multiple Score showed they are a solid squad who could do some damage in their remaining games. The score in this one was M.S. 28 – *69 15. Gilberto led the way for M.S. with 3 TD passes.

At 7:00 Zeta Psi Gold was facing Alpha Sig and if you were to look at this game on paper, you’d say it wouldn’t be close. Butttttt, that is why we play the games. Zeta Psi Gold got all they could handle from a scrappy Alpha Sig team that was vying for the upset and their first win of the season. For awhile it appeared as if Zeta Psi was going to fall victim to the upset, but a late TD run by Elliot put them up for good. Zeta Psi squeaks out the win 18-13. After seeing this, Mr. Hall thinks perhaps they were a bit overrated?

Back That Pass Up, fresh off their first loss, was looking to rebound and they did just that. They showed a nice all around effort with solid defense and a dominant offense, proving to be too much for Secret Mission to handle. Thibodeau and Martinez were the key contributors for BTPU, as they won 36-12.

Vick in a Box has been playing well all year, but were still searching for a signature victory. PK Falcons have basically been ranked #1 all year and were trying to remain on top. Something had to give. The game started off back and forth with Vick holding a small lead 28-26 entering the half. Falcons were playing without their usual starting QB, Taylor, but they didn’t seem to have that much of a drop off. The second half was a whole different story. Pasquarella of Vick in a Box, led his team to 26 2nd half points and a ginormous victory over the #1 ranked PK Falcons. Final score 54 -32. Pasquarella had a nice 8 total TD’s to boot.

Lastly was Yi Fu’s Finest and Gansel Heads. Gansel came into the week knowing they had two huge games and if they could manage to win both, they would be set up nicely for the playoffs. However, Yi Fu has been one of the best NCAA teams all season, so it was going to be a true test for both squads. The teams literally traded scores all game, the only difference was Yi Fu was able to tack on the extra points and Gansel wasn’t. Yi Fu also managed the final score of the game to seal their victory and truly establish their dominance in the NCAA. Final score was 35-25 Yi Fu’s Finest. Drury, once again, threw 5 TD passes (that’s 4 games in a row). Well played lad, well played.

Mr. Hall apologizes for the somewhat boringness of this blog, but promises to get back to entertaining y’all (or at least trying to) in future editions. There should be some more fireworks in tonight’s set of games, so make sure to come out and support all the teams as they make their push for the playoffs. Latrooo
