{"id":90,"date":"2019-03-20T14:38:07","date_gmt":"2019-03-20T18:38:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/ihsl\/?p=90"},"modified":"2019-03-20T15:14:59","modified_gmt":"2019-03-20T19:14:59","slug":"my-professional-journey-dr-heather-frimmer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/ihsl\/2019\/03\/20\/my-professional-journey-dr-heather-frimmer\/","title":{"rendered":"My Professional Journey: Dr. Heather Frimmer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On March 13, Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at SHU students, faculty, and staff gathered over lunch to hear <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heatherfrimmer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dr. Heather Frimmer<\/a> discuss her unique career trajectory from medical trainee to radiologist and published author. This engaging event was part of the \u201cMy Professional Journey\u201d series sponsored by Student Affairs and Wellbeing &#8220;Careers in Medicine,&#8221; the OME Professionalism Committee, and the IHS Library.<\/p>\n<p>During the 90-minute program, Dr. Frimmer spoke of the path that led to her current position as Diagnostic Radiologist in Breast and Emergency Radiology. Once established in her medical career, she would then follow an altogether different path and write her first novel, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heatherfrimmer.com\/book\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Bedside Manners<\/em><\/a>, published by SparkPress in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>After her talk, those in attendance were treated to a reading of two passages from <em>Bedside Manners<\/em>, followed by small-group discussion and reflection of the passages\u2019 themes.
