What is iBuddy?

The International Buddy (iBuddy) Program is a resource that matches domestic student volunteers to international students from undergraduate, graduate, and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs in hopes to create cross-cultural friendships on campus. A matched pair makes a one-semester or one-year commitment to meet regularly and attend various activities provided by SHU or iBuddy.

The goal of iBuddy is to serve as a “Two-Way Mentoring” program where both parties benefit from each other’s knowledge and experiences. While domestic students use this opportunity to serve as student leaders and learn more about different cultures around the world, international students also greatly benefit from the program by learning about the American culture by social interactions, practicing English, and openly sharing cultural differences with their buddies.
