{"id":2011,"date":"2017-10-09T11:27:46","date_gmt":"2017-10-09T15:27:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/honors\/?p=2011"},"modified":"2025-04-11T15:13:53","modified_gmt":"2025-04-11T19:13:53","slug":"history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/honors\/2017\/10\/09\/history\/","title":{"rendered":"History"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>General Program Information<\/h3>\n<h4>History Major<\/h4>\n<p>HONS 1101 &amp; HONS 1102: Satisfy the A&amp;S Humanities sequence (HIST 1201\/HIST 1202 \u201cWestern Civilization I &amp; II\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>HONS 2103: Fulfills either the Pre-1750 or Advanced European History elective within the major<\/p>\n<p>HONS 2105: Counts as a free elective within the major.<\/p>\n<p>Students who complete <strong>all four honors colloquia<\/strong> thus receive <strong>12 credits<\/strong> towards the <strong>36-credit<\/strong> major.\u00a0 They still need to take:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 credits Intro to Historical Research<\/li>\n<li>3 credits History Colloquium<\/li>\n<li>3 credits Senior Seminar<\/li>\n<li>3 credits Advanced U.S. History<\/li>\n<li>3 credits Advanced European or Pre-1750<\/li>\n<li>3 credits Advanced African, Asian, Latin American, or Middle Eastern History<\/li>\n<li>6 credits Advanced Electives (2000+ level)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>History Minor<\/h4>\n<p>Honors students who pursue a minor in history receive <strong>6 credits<\/strong> towards the <strong>18-credit<\/strong> minor.\u00a0 HONS 1101 and HONS 1102 count for HIST 1201\/1202 \u201cWestern Civilization I\/II\u201d and satisfy the Humanities sequence of the A&amp;S core.<\/p>\n<p>Students in the Honors Program still need to complete <strong>12 additional credits<\/strong> in HIST at the 2000+ level to receive the minor:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 credits in Advanced African, Asian, Latin American, or Middle Eastern History (2000+ level)<\/li>\n<li>9 credits free electives at the 2000+ level<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>General Program Information History Major HONS 1101 &amp; HONS 1102: Satisfy the A&amp;S Humanities sequence (HIST 1201\/HIST 1202 \u201cWestern Civilization I &amp; II\u201d) HONS 2103: Fulfills either the Pre-1750 or Advanced European History elective within the major HONS 2105: Counts as a free elective within the major.
