{"id":1687,"date":"2016-04-08T16:11:00","date_gmt":"2016-04-08T20:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/honors\/?p=1687"},"modified":"2024-11-07T11:36:44","modified_gmt":"2024-11-07T16:36:44","slug":"political-science","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/honors\/2016\/04\/08\/political-science\/","title":{"rendered":"Political Science"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #339966\"><strong>Please note:\u00a0 What follows is an arrangement that existed until Nov. 1, 2024.\u00a0 Students who declared a Political Science major prior to Nov. 1, 2024 are entitled to complete the Political Science major in the manner described below.<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Students who complete the four Honors Colloquia may pursue a primary or secondary major in Political Science as follows:<\/p>\n<p>The four Honors Colloquia count toward 12 credits of the Political Science major, specifically: Western Political Thought (3 credits), and three Political Science electives.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond this, the remaining requirements for the major are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>POLS 1211 United States Politics (3 credits)<\/li>\n<li>POLS 1611 Comparative Politics (3 credits)<\/li>\n<li>POLS 1711 International Relations (3 credits)<\/li>\n<li>POLS 2910 Research Methods (3 credits)<\/li>\n<li>Three Political Science electives<br \/>\n(Note: \u00a0a Political Science Department Core III course (Engaging the World) would count as a Political Science elective and as an Honors Seminar)<\/li>\n<li>POLS 5012 &#8211; Senior Seminar (3 credits)<br \/>\nHonors Program students who are political science majors may choose to have their political science theses count as their Honors theses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Please note:\u00a0 What follows is an arrangement that existed until Nov. 1, 2024.\u00a0 Students who declared a Political Science major prior to Nov. 1, 2024 are entitled to complete the Political Science major in the manner described below.
