Students choosing Philosophy as their sole major should consult with the chairperson of Philosophy to review the program.<\/p>\n<p>Students who complete the four honors colloquia may obtain a second major in Philosophy by completing the following additional philosophy coursework:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Three 2000 level courses in philosophy (9 credits)<\/li>\n<li>One\u00a0 3000 level course in philosophy (3 credits)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A Philosophy Department Core III course (Engaging the World) would count as a 3000 level philosophy course, as a Core III (ETW) course, and as an honors seminar.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>NOTE<\/u><\/strong>:\u00a0 In the very rare situation where an Honors student is not planning to complete\u00a0 HONS1101,\u00a0 <span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">PHIL 2020 (Ancient Philosophy) or PHIL 1102 (Philosophy and the Classical Mind) can substitute for HONS1101 for the purpose of the secondary major in Philosophy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Honors Program students who wish to add a major in Philosophy should meet with the chairperson of Philosophy to declare their second major.\u00a0 This is typically done prior to the second semester of junior year, and often during one&#8217;s sophomore year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NOTE: \u00a0This is intended for Honors Program students who wish to add Philosophy as their second major.
