Annnnddd We’re BACK!!!

This week Zach Kotz reported on the attacks and protests ongoing in Benghazi. Paul Murphy spoke on the Shooting at Quebec Premier-Elect Marois’ victory rally, Somalia electing a new President. Venezuela leaving the OAS human rights bodies treaty, and the Duma removes a Putin dissenter.

In our Analysis portion, Candice Carlisle goes in depth on the issues of cybersecurity and Middle Eastern banks and Stephanie Parenti discusses the potential consequences from foreign contribution to Syria. Finally, we end our segment this week by an expert in the field of cyber-security.

Our interviews this week were with Dr. Boldizsár Bencsáth, an assistant professor in the CrySys lab at the Budapest University in the Department of Telecommunications. He named Duqu virus and has been cited in numerous major media outlets as an expert with knowledge in the field.

Our second interview is with Vitaly Kamluk, Chief Malware Expert on Moscow who works on the Global Research & Analysis Team at Kaspersky Labs, Chief Malware Expert on Kaspersky Laboratories Global Research and Analysis Team in Moscow.  Kamluk is frequently quoted and discussed in major news outlets and is actively working in conjunction with CrySyS labs to develop further tools to detect and defend against viruses.

Welcome Back!!

Hi everyone,
Welcome back to a new semester and a new Global Current! We have made some exciting changes to our segment that we can’t wait to share with you, the listeners. We will continue to have our international news feed, updating you on the current issues around the globe and providing sounds bits and brief analysis. Then we will have our analytic section in which we will go in-depth to ongoing and important problems that are facing the world, and finalize our segment by bringing in an experts who can share their knowledge of these issues.

We will be recording our first Fall show this week and it will air on Saturday at 8AM in the New York Area! Get ready to hear about contributions to Syrian rebels by foreign actors and the cyber-security threats that are hitting the Middle East.
