Dr. Noronha&#8217;s talk is entitled &#8220;Neuroscience, Genetics &amp; Behavioral Research at NIAAA: Research Priorities and Future Directions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/fundingopportunities\/files\/2019\/02\/Dr.-Noronha.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-2540\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/fundingopportunities\/files\/2019\/02\/Dr.-Noronha-188x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"144\" height=\"231\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/fundingopportunities\/files\/2019\/02\/Dr.-Noronha-188x300.jpg 188w, http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/fundingopportunities\/files\/2019\/02\/Dr.-Noronha.jpg 209w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 144px) 100vw, 144px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In 2003, Dr. Noronha was appointed the Director of the Division of Neuroscience and Behavior at NIAAA. His research interests include alcohol and the brain; alcohol\u2013induced behavioral effects; neurodegenerative disorders, such as multiple sclerosis; peripheral neuropathies; and alcohol\u2013related damage to the fetus. He has conducted research on the biochemistry of myelin\u2013associated glycoprotein, and on the role of cell adhesion molecules and other glycoconjugates in demyelinating disorders and Fetal Alcohol Exposure effects on the brain. Dr. Noronha has a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the Stritch School of Medicine, Loyola University, Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>The NIH Grants Workshop will be held in the University Center Chancellor&#8217;s Suite on Tuesday, February 27th from 1-3pm. Light lunch and snacks will be provided.
