{"id":2135,"date":"2016-12-06T13:16:28","date_gmt":"2016-12-06T18:16:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/fundingopportunities\/?p=2135"},"modified":"2016-12-06T13:16:28","modified_gmt":"2016-12-06T18:16:28","slug":"grant-applications-to-identify-safer-chemical-alternatives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/fundingopportunities\/2016\/12\/06\/grant-applications-to-identify-safer-chemical-alternatives\/","title":{"rendered":"Grant Applications to Identify Safer Chemical Alternatives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Colleagues,<\/p>\n<p>The Environmental Protection Agency is pleased to announce that applications for The Center of Excellence for Chemical Alternatives Assessment Program are\u00a0being accepted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BACKGROUND: \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The US Environmental Protection Agency is soliciting applications from eligible recipients for a four-year cooperative agreement to create a new Center of Excellence for Chemical Alternatives Assessment to promote chemical safety and informed chemical substitution. \u00a0EPA expects to award up to approximately $800,000.<\/p>\n<p>The center would establish and deploy expertise to identify and evaluate the safety and functionality of chemical alternatives for products and processes. \u00a0It would provide information and assistance to state, local, and tribal government agencies, industry, and others about safer chemicals or processes. \u00a0This will minimize unintended, adverse consequences when making chemical substation decisions.<\/p>\n<p>The cooperative agreement will be issued and managed through EPA&#8217;s Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics. \u00a0The amount of grant funding released each year is dependent upon congressional appropriation and the quality of applications received.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost Sharing or Matching Requirement: <\/strong>No<br \/>\n<strong>Current Closing Date for Applications: <\/strong>Jan 17, 2017<\/p>\n<p><strong>Estimated Total Program Funding:<\/strong> $800,000<br \/>\n<strong>Award Ceiling:<\/strong> $800,000<br \/>\n<strong>Link to Additional Information:<\/strong> https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/saferchoice\/request-grant-applications-identify-safer-chemical-alternatives<\/p>\n<p><strong>General inquiries regarding this program should be made to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>saferchoice@epa.gov<\/p>\n<p>and\/or staff of Safer Choice and Design for the Environment:<\/p>\n<p>Bridget Williams<br \/>\nwilliams.bridget@epa.gov<br \/>\nChen Wen<br \/>\nwen.chen@epa.gov<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Colleagues, The Environmental Protection Agency is pleased to announce that applications for The Center of Excellence for Chemical Alternatives Assessment Program are\u00a0being accepted.
