{"id":2096,"date":"2016-05-09T14:43:23","date_gmt":"2016-05-09T18:43:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/fundingopportunities\/?p=2096"},"modified":"2016-05-09T14:55:54","modified_gmt":"2016-05-09T18:55:54","slug":"2096","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/fundingopportunities\/2016\/05\/09\/2096\/","title":{"rendered":"Digital Projects for the Public Grant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Colleagues:<\/p>\n<p>The National Endowment for the Humanities is pleased to announce that applications for the Digital Projects for Public Grant\u00a0are being accepted.<\/p>\n<p>BACKGROUND: \u00a0THE DIGITAL PROJECTS FOR THE PUBLIC GRANT\u00a0PROGRAM<\/p>\n<p>Digital Projects for the Public\u00a0grants seek to expand projects that significantly contribute to the public&#8217;s engagement with the humanities. \u00a0Digital platforms, such as websites, mobile applications and tours, interactive touch screens and kiosks, games, and virtual environments, can reach diverse audiences and bring the humanities to life for the American people. \u00a0The program offers three levels of support for digital projects: \u00a0grants for Discovery projects (early-stage planning work), Prototyping\u00a0projects\u00a0(proof-of-concept development work), and Production projects (end-stage production and\u00a0distribution\u00a0work). \u00a0While projects can take many forms, shapes, and sizes, your request should be for an exclusively digital project or for a digital component of a larger project. \u00a0All digital Projects for the Public projects should:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>deepen public understanding of significant humanities stories and ideas<\/li>\n<li>incorporate sound humanities scholarship<\/li>\n<li>involve humanities scholars in all phases of development and production<\/li>\n<li>include appropriate digital media professionals<\/li>\n<li>reach a broad public through a realistic plan for development, marketing, and distribution<\/li>\n<li>create appealing digital formats for the general public, and<\/li>\n<li>demonstrate the capacity to sustain themselves<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>AWARD AMOUNT (CEILING)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Successful applicants will receive grants up to\u00a0$400,000 USD<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Awards are made for a period of one to three years and may range up to $30,000 (for Discovery grants), up to $100,000 (for\u00a0Prototyping\u00a0grants), and up to $400,000 (for Production grants).<\/p>\n<p>APPLICANT TYPE<\/p>\n<p>Private institutions of higher education<\/p>\n<p>Public and State controlled institutions of higher education<\/p>\n<p>AWARD PROJECT\u00a0DEADLINE<\/p>\n<p>Applicants are to submit a completed application online by June 8, 2016. \u00a0<em>Projects Beginning January 2017<\/em><\/p>\n<p>OPPORTUNITY CATEGORY<\/p>\n<p>Discretionary<\/p>\n<p>Here is the link to the Call and\u00a0to Additional Information:<\/p>\n<p><u>http:\/\/neh.gov\/grants\/public\/digital-projects-the-public<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Questions about this program should be directed to <a href=\"mailto:publicpgms@neh.gov\">publicpgms@neh.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Colleagues: The National Endowment for the Humanities is pleased to announce that applications for the Digital Projects for Public Grant\u00a0are being accepted.
