{"id":169,"date":"2012-08-29T15:30:04","date_gmt":"2012-08-29T19:30:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/fundingopportunities\/?p=169"},"modified":"2012-08-29T15:30:04","modified_gmt":"2012-08-29T19:30:04","slug":"nsf-stem-expansion-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/fundingopportunities\/2012\/08\/29\/nsf-stem-expansion-program\/","title":{"rendered":"NSF STEM Expansion Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Science Foundation&#8217;s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Program (STEP) is offering awards to institutions that increase the number of students receiving degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) related fields.<\/p>\n<p>Type 1 proposals can last up to five years and the amount of money provided depends on the size of the institution&#8217;s student body, ranging from $500,000 to $2.5 million. These proposals fund specific practices that will increase the number of U.S. students receiving associate or bachelor&#8217;s degrees in STEM fields. Increases in one STEM field must not lead to a decrease in another STEM field. Type 2 proposals provide up to $1.5 million for a 1-4 year period. These proposals conduct research into factors affecting the attainment of associate and bachelor&#8217;s degrees in STEM fields.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for full proposals in September 25, 2012 and will be offered at a similar time next year.
