Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate how their proposed projects will lead to a better understanding of user needs and how their findings will impact consumer health IT design. Applications must clearly address at least one of the five following research areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The needs and preferences of diverse user groups in different contexts<\/li>\n<li>User goals, activities and personal health information management practices<\/li>\n<li>User capacities (such as cognitive, physical, health literacy)<\/li>\n<li>User motivation<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Expert&#8221; user groups (such as frequent health care consumers and their caregivers) and studying them as models.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Grants under this FOA will not exceed $500,000 per year for up to five years. Applications are due February 5, June 5 and October 5.
