Smaller proposals will also be considered, while ones significantly higher than $100,000 may not be considered for review.<\/p>\n<p>Successful proposals will include research in any number of several broad areas, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Catalyst Synthesis, Characterization, Behavior and Performance<\/li>\n<li>Kinetics and Mechanisms of Key Catalytic Reactions<\/li>\n<li>Catalysts at Surfaces or on Reactor Process Systems<\/li>\n<li>Synthesis and Fabrication of Component Materials and Catalyst Composites<\/li>\n<li>Modeling and Fundamental Studies of a Catalyst or Catalytic Process<\/li>\n<li>Catalysts and Studies for Renewable Energy Systems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The above approaches apply equally to inorganic or carbon catalysts as well as enzymatic or biocatalysts.\u00a0 Special interest will be given to proposals that include: electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, energy interconversion devices or systems, converting biomass to fuel and chemicals, developing renewable energy sources and transitioning to environmentally benign products and processes.<\/p>\n<p>The full proposal window is August 15, 2012 to September 18, 2012. The window will be open at a similar time next year.
