This funding opportunity announcement from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism supports innovative research on how prenatal alcohol exposure contributes to the etiology of chronic diseases and conditions later in life. Research can include, but is not limited to:

  • Explorations into how the developmental origins of health and disease concept (DOHaD) relates to prenatal alcohol exposure
  • Research on the biological, cellular and molecular ways in utero alcohol exposure influences adult-onset health outcomes
  • Identifying biomarkers associated with prenatal alcohol exposure that can predict adult disease outcomes
