This National Institute on Aging Funding Opportunity Announcement seeks to expand understanding of the role of families and interpersonal relationships in the health and well-being of older people. Applicants are encouraged to use a wide array of highly innovative methods and approaches. Possible research topics include, but are not limited to:
- Life-course studies
- Kin availibility
- Siblings
- Family structure
- Childlessness
- Role of the family in healthcare behavior compliance
- Family networks and social networks
- The family as context for genetic expression
- Living arrangements
- New models to understand generational transfers
- Decision making and obligations
- Policy consequences in later-life families
- The role of technology
