The Epilepsy Foundation supports a series of grants and fellowships designed to advance the understanding of epilepsy that will lead to better treatment, more effective prevention, and ultimately to a cure. Funding is available to researchers at all professional levels including students, junior investigators and established investigators.

Fellowships:

The Behavioral Sciences Student Fellowship provides a $3,000 stipend available to both undergraduate and graduate students who are studying a field relevant to epilepsy research or clinical care. This includes, but is not limited to: sociology, social work, psychology, anthropology, nursing, economics, vocational rehabilitation, counseling, and political science.

The Health Sciences Student Fellowship provides a $3,000 stipend for individuals enrolled in medical school, a doctoral program, or other graduate program.

The Behavioral Sciences Post-Doctoral Fellowship awards up to $40,000 over one year to develop excellent behavioral scientists that will teach the appropriate psychosocial intervention techniques used in working with people with epilepsy, and contributes to the body of behavioral research in epilepsy.

Targeted Research Initiatives:

The Epilepsy Foundation provides up to $50,000 over a maximum of one year to support targeted research in the following areas:

  • Cognitive and Psychiatric Aspects of Epilepsy

  • Health Outcomes

The foundation also features a New Therapy-Commercialization Grants Program, which supports the development of more effective therapies by serving as a catalyst for moving innovative therapies from the laboratory to the patient.

Applications for all fellowships and grants are due March 22, 2013, except for the New Therapy-Commercialization Program. That program requires a letter of intent by March 15, 2013. For more information on Epilepsy Foundation funding, see the link below:
