Beginning March 18, 2013, the National Science Foundation (NSF) will implement automated compliance checking for all required sections of full proposals (preliminary proposals will not be affected). These compliance checks will only make sure the required documents are included and will not evaluate formatting, page length or content. Required proposal sections in accordance with the Grant Proposal Guide (GPG) are:

  • Project Summary*
  • Projection Description
  • References Cited
  • Biographical Sketches
  • Budget
  • Budget Justification
  • Current and Pending Support
  • Facilities, Equipment and Other Resources
  • Data Management Plan*
  • Postdoctoral Mentoring Plan (if applicable)*

Proposals with a * are already being automatically checked at the time of this posting. If one of the sections above does not apply, the applicant must upload a document reading “Not Applicable” in the relevant section in order to submit their proposal.
