This program supports research projects that develop new knowledge in theoretical computer science and software foundations. Specific projects in these areas can include:
- Algorithmic research
- Models of computation
- Resource usage in areas other than time and space (like communication complexity and energy cost)
- Computer systems evaluation
- The relationship between software and software intensive systems
