This funding opportunity announcement encourages research grant applications that improve understanding of how patterns of physical activity and dietary choice affect the health and fitness of children with physical, cognitive and behavioral disabilities. Proposals can include, but are not limited to:
- Methodological studies to develop outcome measures and better understand the needs of children with disabilities and their families
- Sociocultural studies of the unique challenges & opportunities to promote exercise and dietary health in disabled children from special racial, ethnic or economically disadvantaged groups.
- Clinical studies of contraindications and exercise limits for disabled children that exacerbate detrimental health conditions.
The award covers a five year span and varies based upon the availability of funds and number of meritorious applications. Letters of intent are due February 3, 2013, with final applications due 30 days beyond that. For more information, see the link below:
