The National Science Foundation (NSF) provides funding for research on novel methods and materials for separation processes. NSF is particularly interested in:

  • Nanostructured materials for separations
  • Biorenewable resource separation processes
  • Purification of drinking water
  • Field (flow, magnetic, electrical) induced separations
  • Separation of molecular constituents from blood

Awards are generally for one to three years, and the average annual award size is $80,000. Projects outside these areas may be considered, but contact the Program Director to avoid your proposal being returned without review.
