The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is offering up to $200,000 per year for research on how environmental toxicants affect the composition and functioning of the microbiome. Studies should focus on gut, skin and lung microbiota and include exposure to an environmentally relevant toxicant. Human cohorts can be used if they are pre-existing and supported by some other mechanism, as the FOA does not support the recruitment and retainment of human subjects.
