Robbins, Ph.D., to campus on Monday, March 24 at 6pm.\u00a0 Dr. Robbins will present \u201cHow to Convey Your Data Clearly with Graphs\u201d in the McNulty Amphitheater.\u00a0 The presentation will provide tips and expert advice that will be immediately useful for undergraduates, graduate students, faculty from a variety of disciplines, and the public.\u00a0 The event is co-sponsored by the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, the Department of Psychology, and the Division of Continuing Education and Professional Studies.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Dr. Robbins\u2019 presentation will not be software-specific.\u00a0 Her tips and techniques are designed to help users across all levels, regardless of method of graphical presentation.\u00a0 According to Dr. Robbins, \u201cIt does not matter whether you\u2019re calculating baseball statistics or conducting government data analysis.\u00a0 I\u2019ll show you how small changes can make big differences in your presentation of data.\u201d\u00a0 Further, \u201cI\u2019ll show graphs that do not communicate clearly and then redesign them to show how they can be more effective.\u00a0 The changes may be very slight, but you\u2019ll notice how they can make a big difference in the understanding.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Dr. Robbins is an experienced author, speaker, and consultant. She currently serves as the principal of NBR, an organization that provides consulting and training for effective graphical data presentation.\u00a0 In 2013, she republished Creating More Effective Graphs, originally published by John Wiley and Sons.
