Making one small change in your teaching can have a big impact. In this workshop, Dr. Marianne Lloyd, Assoc. Professor of Psychology, will share some of her favorite strategies for engaging students and identifying potential problems in comprehension of course material. Use these tricks to make class a treat!<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

11\/7, Critical Thinking Workshop II, 4:00 \u2013 5:00, Regents Suite<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
This second of two workshops, led by Dr. Richard Grallo of Metropolitan College, will continue discussions of the ways to root critical thinking and assessment in the general structure of human consciousness,\u00a0 and will aim to link these core competencies of the contemporary university to other dimensions of consciousness. (Co-sponsored by the Center for Catholic Studies, the Center for Faculty Development, and the University Core.)<\/span><\/div>\n

In a time when events in the public sphere seem to be more frequently becoming subject matter in our classrooms, it can be helpful to know how and when to handle such conversations. This panel presentation will feature\u00a0<\/span>faculty from various disciplines who have developed strategies for handling current events in their classes. They will offer practical advice and techniques, both for ways to handle discussions that come up unexpectedly and for planned lessons that engage current events.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

In this workshop, Dr. Paula Franzese, Professor of Law, will share strategies for teaching with empathy,\u00a0<\/span>allowing students\u2019 cognitive and emotional aptitudes to align, thereby deepening their ability to cultivate more nuanced, conceptual, and resonant understanding of subject matter.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
