“Lunch and Learn: Reducing Book Costs for Students with Open Educational Resources”<\/span><\/p>\n

The high cost of textbooks is a growing concern in higher education, especially as tuition and living costs continue to rise. New Jersey Senate Bill S 768 (now enacted) requires institutions of higher education to develop an open textbook plan. While there are several ways to reduce book costs, the most effective is to adopt “open” resources that are free to use. OER can also give faculty more control over pedagogy and improve student learning and success.<\/p>\n

At this online workshop, Seton Hall librarians will explain the benefits of OER, demonstrate how library resources can help bring down the cost of textbooks, and provide faculty with practical tools and resources for using open textbooks in their courses.<\/p>\n
