Ariana Dispalatro, Leadership sophomore, was the head of this session. This session started out with how technology has influenced business and how to increase one\u2019s presence in the business world. At the end of the session, the group\u00a0discussed the goals of the following Group Mentoring sessions. The following is an outline of the session&#8217;s discussion points.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How has technology influenced business?\n<ul>\n<li>Marketing: first to feel impact of new technology\n<ul>\n<li>Different\/new forms of marketing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Companies allow employees to use personal devices at work<\/li>\n<li>Harder\u00a0for new businesses\u00a0to get their\u00a0foot in door with technology increases\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Better once in&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Suggestions to increase presence\n<ul>\n<li>Always look for internships, part time job\n<ul>\n<li>Relevant to what you want to do<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t pigeonhole yourself, however<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Build &amp; cultivate relationships<\/li>\n<li>You never know who others know!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Use social media to your\u00a0advantage\n<ul>\n<li>Build a positive platform<\/li>\n<li>Linked In: Required for Leadership students<\/li>\n<li>Twitter: build platform around what you&#8217;re interested in<\/li>\n<li>Facebook: page about yourself<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Goals for future sessions\n<ul>\n<li>Be able to talk with people\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Resumes\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Interview technique<\/li>\n<li>Mock interview<\/li>\n<li>Elevator pitch<\/li>\n<li>Positive communication<\/li>\n<li>Internships\n<ul>\n<li>Searching for<\/li>\n<li>What is valuable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>What is valuable in workplace<\/li>\n<li>How to make an impact\n<ul>\n<li>Innovation<\/li>\n<li>Creativity<\/li>\n<li>Stories\/experiences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The second Group Mentoring session of the Fall 2012 semester occurred on Thursday, September 27th.
