It is written with a child&#8217;s words.\u00a0 She speaks of the simple experiences she observed, and how they impacted and shaped her life.<\/p>\n<p>When you thought I wasn\u2019t looking I saw you make my<br \/>\nFavorite cake for me, and learned that the little<br \/>\nThings can be the special things in life.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nWhen you thought I wasn\u2019t looking I saw you make a<br \/>\nMeal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I<br \/>\nLearned that we all have to help take care of each other.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nWhen you thought I wasn\u2019t looking I saw tears come<br \/>\nFrom your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things<br \/>\nHurt but it is alright to cry.<\/p>\n<p>The repetition and cadence of these words &#8211; \u2018When you thought I wasn\u2019t looking\u2019 &#8211; rings in our ears.\u00a0 They remind us that everything we do influences others.\u00a0 Stephen Covey tells us: \u201cRole modeling is the most basic responsibility of parents.\u00a0 Parents are handing life&#8217;s scripts to their children, scripts that in all likelihood will be acted out for the rest of the children&#8217;s lives.\u201d\u00a0 You are the role models who will help shape and influence the lives of others.\u00a0 Your actions become the scripts that will be played out in the lives of those you serve.\u00a0 People will draw lessons from you, because of the qualities that they see in you.\u00a0 Your choices of words and actions will serve as the inspiration to others who will compose their own poem of you.\u00a0 Perhaps the poem someone will write about you will read:<\/p>\n<p>When you thought I wasn\u2019t looking, I saw you believe in me<br \/>\nAnd I learned to grow in my own self-confidence.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nWhen you thought I wasn\u2019t looking, I heard you tell others of their<br \/>\nInfinite possibilities, and I began to find my own potential.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nWhen you thought I wasn\u2019t looking, I saw you sit quietly and concerned<br \/>\nAbout people, and I learned the importance of caring.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nWhen you thought I wasn\u2019t looking, I saw you stand by your principles<br \/>\nAnd values in difficult situations, and I learned that I would live my life<br \/>\nBased on my own values and do what\u2019s right<\/p>\n<p>Each word you speak, action you take, decision you make will add to the majesty and beauty of your poem.\u00a0 May it be epic in its richness, that others in reading it, may see the legacy of your life\u2019s example.\u00a0 Whom are you watching?\u00a0 To\u00a0 whom will you one day say:\u00a0 &#8220;When you thought I wasn\u2019t looking, you changed my life forever.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Have a beautiful day and a fantastic week!!!<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nMike<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To:\u00a0 The Great Leaders Who Have a Passion for Continuous Learning \u00a0 A friend recently shared with me a beautiful poem, When You thought I Wasn\u2019t Looking.
