\u201cThis is the single most powerful investment we can ever make in life \u2013 investment in ourselves, in the only instrument we have with which to deal with life and to contribute<\/em>.\u201d writes\u00a0Stephen Covey<\/a>. His words tell great leaders of the continued need for self-renewal in their life. \u201cRenewal<\/em>,\u201d he writes, \u201crequires opening yourself up to new ways of thinking and feeling<\/em>.\u201d It is about continually seeing the world through different eyes, pursuing and being open to change and letting go of ideas and beliefs that hold us back.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Frank Lloyd Wright<\/a> once quipped: \u201cAn expert is a man who has stopped thinking because \u2018he knows.\u2019<\/em>\u201d Knowing the answers can be the biggest impediment to self-renewal because we start to automatically apply the same rules and engage in the same behaviors which inevitably lead to rigidity. Great leaders\u2019 lives are filled with endless curiosity and, borrowing from an IBM saying, \u201ca spirit of endless reinvention<\/em>.\u201d May you fill your days and life with this spirit of continuing self-renewal. As you do, remember always\u00a0Lao Tzu\u2019s<\/a> wise counsel: \u201cWhen I let go of what I am, I become what I might be<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n
