{"id":2122,"date":"2014-09-28T19:25:19","date_gmt":"2014-09-28T23:25:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/StillmanLeaders\/?p=2122"},"modified":"2014-09-28T19:25:19","modified_gmt":"2014-09-28T23:25:19","slug":"three-minute-leadership-turning-passion-on-its-head","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.edu\/StillmanLeaders\/2014\/09\/three-minute-leadership-turning-passion-on-its-head\/","title":{"rendered":"Three Minute Leadership: Turning Passion on Its Head"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">To:\u00a0 The Great Leaders Who Have a Passion for Continuous Learning<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">In his recent Blog, <i>Turning Passion on Its Head<\/i>, Seth Godin suggests a shift in focus from <i>doing<\/i> what we love to <i>loving<\/i> what we do.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">Turning Passion on Its Head <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">Instead of, &#8220;do what you love,&#8221; perhaps the more effective mantra for the entrepreneur, the linchpin and maker of change might be, &#8220;love what you do.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">If we can fall in love with serving people, creating value, solving problems, building valuable connections and doing work that matters, it makes it far more likely we&#8217;re going to do important work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">This simple shift in emphasis does not change the importance of finding our life\u2019s vocation.\u00a0 Rather, it sets fire to that \u2018doing\u2019 in life. Love sets our \u2018doing\u2019 ablaze, intensifying amplifying its depth and breadth beyond what we would have dreamed. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">As Steve Jobs said:\u00a0 \u201cYour work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.\u00a0 If you haven\u2019t found it, keep looking. Don\u2019t settle.\u201d Never settle! Ever!
