Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner share their ten truths about leadership.\u00a0 It is based on their interviews of thousands of leaders over thirty years of research.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>They believe that despite changes in the <em>context<\/em> of leadership (e.g. technologies, globalization), \u201cthe <em>content <\/em>of leadership has not changed much at all.\u00a0 The fundamental behaviors, action, and practices of leaders have remained essentially the same\u2026.\u201d\u00a0 They share the basic ten truths that have endured over the years.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You make a difference.<\/li>\n<li>Credibility is the foundation of leadership.<\/li>\n<li>Values drive commitment\u2013 You need to know what you believe in.<\/li>\n<li>Focusing on the future sets leaders apart.<\/li>\n<li>You can&#8217;t do it alone.<\/li>\n<li>Trust rules.<\/li>\n<li>Challenge is the crucible for greatness.<\/li>\n<li>You either lead by example or you don&#8217;t lead at all.<\/li>\n<li>The best leaders are the best learners.<\/li>\n<li>Leadership is an affair of the heart.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t love what you do &#8211; you won&#8217;t work hard enough to become great.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As great leaders read these truths, assuredly a smile of approbation comes to their face. They are the stuff from which greatness, professional and personal, is achieved \u2013 the beautiful guidelines for their <em>being<\/em> and <em>doing<\/em> in life.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And the starting point is found in truth # 1: <strong>You make a difference!<\/strong> This is the beginning, the moment of their realization that they bring something truly special and unique to the world and those whom they serve &#8211; their choice to make that difference.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Remember always the words of J.M.
