With the beginning of summer for those of us in the northern hemisphere Philip Humbert\u00a0‘s article, “Make It One Heck of a Summer”,\u00a0and its message of\u00a0<\/span>carpe diem<\/i><\/span>\u00a0again comes to mind. \u00a0I share this at the beginning of each summer as it\u00a0continues to serve us well as a moment of reflection of great possibilities and great joys to come.\u00a0 In the article he talks about how he and his wife in October seemed to always have the same conversation about summer: \u00a0“Oh, no! \u00a0Where did the summer go?”\u00a0 Moments later the house was filled with whining and moaning, a few com<\/span>plaints and exclamations that, “I can’t believe we let it get away again!” \u00a0I believe his experience is similar to most of\u00a0ours,\u00a0and that come October, we may look back with similar regrets\u2026 if we don\u2019t chose as summer of fun, relaxation and infinite possibilities for joy and happiness.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

His point is to remind us that we are in control.\u00a0 Our summer and how we will spend it is our hands. It is about goal setting. \u00a0Human beings, he says, are by nature “goal-setting and goal-achieving creatures.” \u00a0We set goals everyday – from\u00a0the\u00a0planning of our daily schedule to planning what we will eat during the week. \u00a0So, if we are to have the greatest summer of our lives, we need to plan to make it the greatest. \u00a0Start today. \u00a0Circle dates on the calendar and mark them with things you want and love to do. \u00a0Fill it up\u00a0and let it overflow the brim. \u00a0Live this summer as the greatest you have ever had! \u00a0 It is your beautiful and special life to live to its fullest. \u00a0Stretch yourself to do new things, uncover new possibilities and happiness – for you, your family and those around you. Set goals and make a check list of all those things you want to do, and do them.\u00a0 And in October, look back proudly\u00a0with satisfaction\u00a0at what you have achieved,\u00a0learned\u00a0and experienced.\u00a0 Happiness and success is in your choosing and doing. \u00a0Choose wisely and choose well!<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
